Additional Closures & Restrictions

County Announces Additional Closures And Restrictions In Response To Covid-19

For Immediate Release - Wednesday March 18, 2020

At this time, there are currently no confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Wellington County. County officials are working closely with Wellington-Dufferin-Guelph Public Health to respond to this situation as it continues to evolve.

As more information becomes available, the County of Wellington will make additional changes to slow the spread of COVID-19.

In addition to the operational changes already made, County officials have made the following new decisions on further closures and restrictions, effective immediately:

All non-essential staff to work from home

Available staff to be re-deployed as necessary to assist

County Waste Facilities closed to public, curbside collection to continue

All non-essential County deliveries halted

County Social Services Offices closed to public, residents needing emergency assistance are asked to call 519.837.6274

“Following the advice of the Prime Minister and the Premier, the County and all seven local municipalities will be further reducing services to just essential personnel with other staff expected to provide support when required,” said Warden Kelly Linton.

“These difficult decisions are necessary to help slow the rate of the COVID-19 virus. The County will continue to work with all seven local municipalities to operate essential services as best we can. We all need to do our part to protect our vulnerable populations.”

The County of Wellington will continue to monitor the situation closely and we will be making all appropriate changes as necessary. For the most up to date information, please visit: www.wellington.ca or check our social media platforms.
