For Immediate Release - March 15, 2019
“I am so inspired by the global climate activism led by students in the Fridays for Future movement. These young leaders are doing what the adults leading the province are failing to do, which is acknowledge the climate emergency we all face.
It’s a shame that their future is being threatened by a Ford government playing politics with climate action in Ontario.
It’s a shame that when I tried to initiate an emergency debate on climate change following the release of a UN report last October, the Ford government shot down my motion.
It’s a shame that while students call for “climate action now” Ford is busy sabotaging climate solutions all over the province.
I applaud these brave students for taking their climate activism from the classroom to Queen’s Park and reminding us all that there is no Planet B.
I will continue amplifying their voice inside the Legislature.”
