Board Meeting Highlights for December 2018
The December meeting of the Upper Grand District School Board was held on December 18, 2018. The following provides highlights from the meeting

GUELPH, Ontario – The December meeting of the Upper Grand District School Board was held on December 18, 2018. The following provides highlights from the meeting. 

Secondary Program Review 
Staff presented the Report of the Secondary Program Review Working Group to trustees for information. The UGDSB’s Secondary Program Review is a strategic review of secondary school education across the district. 

In the summer and fall of 2018, a working group representing all UGDSB stakeholders conducted the review, gathering input from UGDSB secondary staff, students and parents/guardians through an online survey. The working group also gathered input through focus groups and the board’s existing committees including Student Senate, the Parent Involvement Committee, Special Education Advisory Committee, French as a Second Language Advisory Committee, the UGDSB Program Committee and the Secondary Principal and Vice-Principal Group. 

Details contained in the report include: 

  • The review process and survey results 
  • The learning characteristics identified as most important for UGDSB graduates 
  • Current effective strategies used to provide student support for post-secondary destination decision-making 
  • Additional strategies to support student pathways 
  • Trends in secondary school course offerings

The next regular monthly meeting will be held on Tues. January 29, 2019, at the Guelph Board Office, 500 Victoria Road North. Everyone is welcome to attend. The meeting begins at 7 p.m.
