For Immediate Release - Guelph, ON
On Sunday, October 28th, get ready for a spooky, but family friendly, Punk Rock Flea Market to help
kick off Halloween.
Nick Clark, of Pressed By Nick, has been organizing the event since July of 2017. As an enthusiast and promoter of
local punk music, the flea market was a natural extension of his interests. The market runs monthly from mid-spring
to mid-fall. It supports local artists, record labels, and resellers of unique vintage goods, such as clothing and
jewelry. Typically, the event also hosts a local musician or two, playing tunes on the back patio when the weather
agrees, or getting cozy on the small, indoor stage on rainy days.
This special-edition Punk Rock Flea Market will have Halloween themed crafts and treats, including a station to
make your own upcycled Halloween decor, led by Stephanie Clarke of Steph Sew Sublime. Participation in the
creepy craftalong is by donation, and no pre-registration is required. Stephanie makes iron-on patches for an
initiative called #PatchesForPads that helps provide menstrual hygiene products to shelters, food banks, and other
community organizations.
Visitors are encouraged to come in costume and enter the costume contest, with prizes from vendors at the flea, as
well as from some local businesses. Prizes will be awarded in children and adult categories.
The event is all-ages and free to attend, and has a variety of craft and gift vendors to help you get ready for the
Holiday season while still keeping you in the eerie spirit of Halloween. Food and drinks are available for purchase
from the bar, and the event hosts between 10 and 15 vendors each month.
Vendor spots are also free, but must be
applied for in advance, and a few spaces remain for this event. To secure a last-minute vendor spot, send an email
to prfmguelph@gmail.com
