Handel’s Messiah - Dec 22

The Guelph Chamber Choir invites the community to its beloved annual performance of Handel’s Messiah on Saturday, December 22, 2018 at 7:30 pm

Featuring Musica Viva Orchestra playing on period instruments with four outstanding Canadian soloists, Handel’s Messiah is a treasured Christmas tradition for many in the English-speaking world.

Conductor Gerald Neufeld
remarked, “Although last year was my final performance of Messiah with the Guelph Chamber Choir as its regular conductor, I am grateful for another opportunity to explore this monumental work with our singers and period players during this transitional year to a new conductor. I invite you to come and experience the familiar story declaimed through Handel’s brilliant beautiful score.”

The choir is pleased to welcome back soprano Meredith Hall who thrills audiences internationally with her “lustrous sound and fluent legato with bravura musical performance matched by a riveting sense of the dramatic.”

Jennifer Enns Modolo is a mezzo-soprano who is making a name for herself in Canada and abroad. She has delighted audiences across the country with her clear, unaffected voice and expressive singing.

Canadian tenor Colin Ainsworth has distinguished himself with his exceptional singing and diverse repertoire. This versatile and thrilling tenor has worked across the world with opera companies and orchestras and is acclaimed for his interpretations of the major Classical and Baroque tenor roles. "Ainsworth has always been blessed with an unusually high, pure tenor. Now it thrills with remarkable power and expressivity.”

Baritone Bruce Kelly’s extensive career has taken him to many of the important opera houses and concert halls of Europe as well as those of his native Canada. He is celebrated for his “assured stage presence and rich baritone.”
