"We've Created the Spookiest Place in Guelph"

At the height of the summer heat, Guelph’s coolest places to hang are a new type of game called "adventure rooms".
And the latest in unique adventure rooms has opened its doors to the public in the heart of downtown Guelph.

GUELPH, ON, July 29, 2016 -

The Khronos Gauntlet Adventure Rooms, which is located at 50 Cork Street East, is an immersive series of adventure rooms, first-of-its-kind in the region.

For the uninitiated, the Khronos Gauntlet design team uses the Wikipedia description on their website to define an "adventure room" or "escape room" as a "real life physical adventure game in which people are locked in a room with other participants and have to use elements of the room to solve a series of puzzles, find clues, and escape the room in a set time limit."

At the Khronos Gauntlet, each adventure game couples the strategic elements of detailed logic puzzles with a great narrative adventure story. The combination makes it an immersive game that is great for groups of friends looking for a get-away from the everyday, or corporate outings designed around team building and collective problem solving.

"Our desire is to have our games match elements of story detail found in the best theme park attractions," says Kris Webb, one of the design team. "There are lots of ways to build comprehensive and challenging puzzles for players to test their logic skill, and all adventure rooms need to have those mind-challenging puzzles."

"The game design team all agree that our passion for developing a gaming experience unlike any we've seen makes it hard to sit back and watch teams of players discover the entire experience for themselves in their own time. We just want them to discover that next hidden door or figure out that cool puzzle and hear all the shouts of delight at what they've found."

The Khronos Gauntlet, which literally means "time challenge", sends adventurers on missions through time. Drawing on the mythos of a fictional time-travel agency, the KhronoSphere, teams of players are able to blast through time to experience different eras and locations. The games featured include two adventure floors, one in a medieval dungeon, and the second in a wizard’s tower, and soon, a post-apocalyptic research laboratory will be added when the third floor finishes development.

Khronos Gauntlet has regular hours throughout the year, including on select holidays. Games are booked by appointment only and games average an hour, and can be enjoyed by teams from 4 to 16 players, depending on the level.

Reservation information can be found on our website at KhronosGauntlet.com
