Released For Publication - July 10, 2023
Prepare to get all shook up at the Wellington County Museum and Archives this summer.
Discover the King of Rock and Roll through the eyes of local collector Rick Clark in the latest installation of the Wellington County Collects exhibit series.
Opening July 22, Cola Goes Better with Elvis includes stories from Rick Clark and memorabilia highlighting the history of Elvis Presley and his favourite red and white branded beverage, Coca-Cola. The exhibit will also feature a colouring wall and an area to listen to Elvis’ music and learn about the different albums on display.
“It truly was a lot of fun collecting Coca-Cola and Elvis Presley paraphernalia and memorabilia items over the years,”
said Rick Clark.
“Both Coca-Cola and Elvis Presley have stood the test of time and when people visit the exhibit, I hope it will bring back some happy memories for them as well.”
Wellington County Collects is a community programme the Museum launched in 2013 that features collections from Wellington County residents. The programme supports the museum’s mandate to tell the stories of people, places, and events in Wellington County and to involve members of the community in the exhibition development process.
“We are excited to have Rick’s collection on display,”
said Amy Dunlop, Assistant Curator.
“We hope this will inspire visitors to reflect on their own collections and stories as important parts of Wellington County’s history and culture.”
The exhibit runs until January 14, 2024. The Wellington County Museum and Archives is located at 0536 Wellington Road 18 between Fergus and Elora.
